Abstract:
Abstract What makes a business successful? How does it remain successful? In order to answer this question, I have developed the MythosResearch® approach, which helps medium-sized, family-owned businesses to tap into their most important resource for making them successful: their deepest sense of purpose—their “mythos.” Mythos potential pulsates throughout a business’s history, its doctrines and beliefs, and its vision of the future. A clearly defined and communicated mythos creates identification, orientation, and enthusiasm. It is therefore a magical breeding ground for a successful corporate brand. Over time, however, a mythos may become a burden and a risk factor, as it stands in the way of new developments. The mythos then “bites back.” It is therefore crucial for the leadership to become aware of the business’s mythos and to realign it to the changed requirements of the market.
