Abstract:
Abstract We describe the first mode of dialectical thinking that we call structural thinking, which in essence views entities as always being part of a larger whole. We illustrate structural thinking with reference to a physical entity, a snowflake, and then to a conceptual entity, Ken Wilber’s “AQAL” integral model. We then give examples of three levels of structural thinking. We conclude with a series of generic “mind-opening” questions designed to encourage structural thinking.
