Abstract:
Abstract This chapter describes how Heidelberger Druckmaschinen, the leading manufacturer of sheetfed offset printing presses, succeeded with providing smart services. The evolution of Heidelberg’s service business is described, before zooming in on new business models enabled by the firm’s Industrial Internet of Things enabled solution, the Heidelberg Cloud. A detailed explanation of the network effects at work is provided, before detailing the mechanics of a successful subscription business model. Finally, Heidelberg’s digital service portfolio is introduced, and the overall customer value proposition is explained.
