Abstract: Abstract Masdar City is the sustainable city project in Abu Dhabi, UAE. It is built by Masdar a subsidiary of Mubadala Development Company. The city is designed by the British architectural firm Foster and Partners. The city sources energy from solar and other renewable energy sources. The city hosts the headquarters of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA). The city is designed as a hub for clean tech companies. In 2007, the government of Abu Dhabi announced the intent of building “the world’s first zero carbon city” the custom designed settlement called Masdar.
