Abstract:
Abstract Reliance Jamnagar Marine Terminal is situated in the Gulf of Kutch, State of Gujarat, India which is, about 35 km west of the town of Jamnagar. Jamnagar refinery is the world’s largest refinery and petrochemicals complex owned by Reliance Industries. Reliance Industries, the flagship company is the largest private sector company in India. The Reliance Jamnagar is the world’s largest refinery and aromatics complex. It is the largest industrial project implemented by Indian corporate sector completed by Bechtel. The first refinery was completed in the year 2000. The Jamnagar refinery project is the largest single investment at a single site in India. The Jamnagar complex is the first manufacturing complex of its kind with a fully integrated petroleum refinery, petrochemicals complex, captive power plants and a captive port. There are more than 50 process units in the refinery which carry out functions such as crude oil distillation, catalytic cracking, catalytic reforming and delayed coking. The refinery project incurred a cost of US$207 million and the first phase of the complex construction incurred a total cost of $437 million. The construction of the plant was initiated in the year 1996. The estimated completion period was of 30 months. However, the company was able finish the construction of the refinery plant well ahead of the schedule in 24 months. The first refinery plant at Jamnagar had the capacity to produce 15 million tonnes per year of refined crude.
