Abstract Addiction is a disorder characterized by a persistent and intense urge to engage in certain behaviors, despite negative consequences. Typically, such a disorder is associated with an individual. Yet, also social systemsSocial system may show addictive behavior. It is not difficult to stumble into a Shifting the Burden dynamicsDynamics. Getting rid of such addictive behavior is, however, not that simple, as is discussed in the context of maintenance, of outsourcingOutsourcing, and of nosocomial infectionNosocomial infection.
