Chapter 4 in Disaster Response Practices, 2023, pp 31-40 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Decontamination is the reduction or removal of CBR contamination from persons and equipment by physical and/or chemical processes. Emergency response and CST personnel independently or collectively can implement thorough and/or emergency decontamination and verification procedures to ensure contamination is not spread to cold zone operations. The CST commander will appoint an officer in charge/noncommissioned officer in charge (OIC/NCOIC) for the decontamination line, which should be manned by 2–4 individuals, as the situation warrants. All contaminated equipment will be decontaminated before leaving the site or will be properly packaged for disposal.
