Chapter 9 in Structured Innovation, 2024, pp 195-213 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Competitive Intelligence (CI) plays a crucial role in informing strategic decision-making and driving innovation. By monitoring and analyzing competitors’ actions, products, and market trends, companies can gain valuable insights into emerging opportunities and threats. CI enables companies to stay abreast of industry developments, identify gaps in the market, and anticipate shifts in consumer preferences. Armed with this knowledge, companies can adapt their strategies, refine their offerings, and capitalize on market trends before their competitors do. In this chapter, amongst others, we give the objectives of CI, typical CI operations, the CI process and it’s intelligence products, as well as the required skills of CI teams.
