Chapter 6 in Data Excellence in Sports, 2026, pp 177-196 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract In this chapter, we discuss some challenges, limitations, and future directions. Challenges (Sect. 6.1) can occur in various places, including technical, organizational, and ethical aspects. They can lead to limitations that could hinder us in creating solutions to the analytics tasks at hand (Sect. 6.2) or even make it impossible to find a good solution. Although we do not really know how the field will develop in the future, we can discuss some possible upcoming directions (Sect. 6.3), for example, considering novel concepts from artificial intelligence or even display technologies. In addition, ethical concerns can play a crucial role in the future, especially for data access and publication and dissemination of the analysis results.
