A chapter in Understanding Türkiye’s Real Estate Markets, 2026, pp 297-312 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter analyses direct and indirect real estate investment alternatives in Türkiye. Real estate investments in Türkiye are analysed with regard to macroeconomic indicators. Concerning investment strategies, it is possible to identify the potential of real estate investments in Türkiye, whether they take the form of direct investment—the purchase of physical real estate or ownership of real estate-based rights—or indirect investment—investments in real estate-based assets traded on capital markets. This also requires taking a closer look at Türkiye’s socio-economic indicators. The real estate and construction sector significantly contributes to GDP and attracts foreign investment, but faces challenges like economic instability, housing price rises, and limited investment options. Opportunities include granting citizenship, improving housing finance systems, and expanding financial instruments. Options for direct and indirect real estate investment are sketched, and these options and strategies are summarised in this chapter.
