A chapter in Understanding Türkiye’s Real Estate Markets, 2026, pp 621-647 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Türkiye is dependent on energy imports, and this import dependency underscores Türkiye’s goal to improve its energy efficiency, stimulate investment in renewable energy, and ensure the security of energy supply. The expansion of solar and wind energy capacities signifies the nation’s commitment to these renewable energy sources. The prevailing dependence on fossil fuels contributes to rising CO2 emissions, presenting challenges for achieving climate targets. The successful implementation of energy efficiency strategies will reduce energy intensity and promote sustainable development. Additionally, it is important to strengthen the capacity to utilise international climate finance. In summary, the augmented use of renewable energy and stronger energy efficiency policies will be crucial for helping Türkiye attain its sustainable energy goals.
