Abstract: Abstract This chapter presents a brief history of Italian migration to Australia. It describes the geographic, political, economic, social and cultural background of the Italian migrants who founded the three generational family businesses in this book. It also provides the context for understanding how the founder’s Italian origins have continued to shape the identity of the family and the business across generations.
