Abstract: Abstract The personal development process is part of the wider performance management process and takes place during career and career discussions. It is a continuous process, in which an employee and manager define the knowledge, skills and competencies required for development in the employee’s current position and in possible future career paths. Effective leaders create the basis for personal growth which in turn, results in high performance at the team level. This chapter reviews the personal development process goals, the characteristics of effective personal development process. Main area and guiding questions for manager-employee personal development dialog and tips for managing this dialog effectively.
