Abstract: Abstract This chapter provides the basic concepts of a philosophy of lateral or non-hierarchical leadership; it explains the roles of moderating and facilitating, the significance of visualisation and responsibility for successful communication and co-operation; it introduces the basic concepts of learning and competence, organisation and co-operation, management and leadership, knowledge and knowledge management, networks and clusters; it also recommends projects as a work style, gives an insight into the nature of quality and shows how learning networks support the building of social capital.
