Chapter 12 in Disinformation Attacks On Businesses, 2026, pp 139-146 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This chapter develops a practical approach to defending against disinformation attacks. It explains digital listening as a “seismograph”: AI-driven methods detect “unknown unknowns” and decode emerging narratives and networks. Using further tools as examples, the author demonstrates how technology and human intelligence interact. A particular focus is placed on the factor of time: slower internal decision-making processes are confronted with wave-like, highly dynamic attacks. From this, the author derives the necessity for companies to prepare to limit damage through rapid crisis management and systematic follow-up.
