Chapter 13 in Disinformation Attacks On Businesses, 2026, pp 147-158 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This chapter demonstrates why preparation is the decisive lever against disinformation attacks: it buys time and prevents hasty, misguided reactions. It outlines key preventive measures such as awareness programs, staff training in communication and security, as well as professional early warning tools. It describes how companies can map adversaries and supporters, maintain stakeholder lists, and establish a multidisciplinary task force including a “war room”. The author emphasizes the need to eliminate silos and timewasters, secure external experts in advance, and consider legal options early on. Finally, proactive and empathetic public communication is highlighted as a key to countering the attackers’ narratives.
