Chapter 9 in Disinformation Attacks On Businesses, 2026, pp 87-101 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This chapter systematically categorizes perpetrator profiles of disinformation attacks and their motives. It establishes a clear distinction between disinformation criminals and cybercriminals, who do not attack IT systems but rather target the trust, perception, and behavior of stakeholders. Case studies illustrate how these motives are translated into campaigns and why companies must in the future take this threat as seriously as cyberattacks.
