Chapter Chapter 8 in Strategic Management and Organizational Development, 2025, pp 87-98 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter draws on Mao Zedong’s military strategy of “winning with few, overcoming with weak” to discuss how emerging entities can gradually grow in competition through clever positioning. By concentrating superior resources and using flexible strategies such as “avoid the strong, strike at the weak,” this chapter analyzes how resource-limited companies can stand out in market competition. The chapter stresses that victory is not achieved through luck or sheer power but by the application of wisdom and strategic planning to achieve victory through fewer resources and weaker forces.
