A chapter in Advances in Digital Marketing and eCommerce, 2024, pp 157-170 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This study delves into the evolution of gamification in social media research, analysing 204 publications from the Web of Science platform using R Bibliometrix software. Publications released since 2008, mainly on information systems, social sciences, and computer-human interaction journals, with fewer contributions from marketing journals. The focal points include user acceptance and motivation, user behaviours tied to health outcomes from gaming addiction, and performance and design systems in esports and computer games. Future research is suggested to explore the behavioural change potential of gamification in ecommerce, considering product, cultural, and platform diversity.
