Abstract:
Abstract Over the past decade, several studies have conceptualised the winescape construct adopting different approaches: (1) winery-specific, (2) wine region, (3) organised wine tour, and (4) family-friendly wineries. However, few have applied these approaches or evaluated the consistency of existing winescape frameworks across differing wine tourism contexts. Moreover, limited research has explored the relationship between winescape dimensions and wine tourist attitude. To address these underexplored areas, this study employs a winery-level approach within the broader context of an ‘old-world’ wine region and examines both the perceived winescape dimensions and their affective influence on visitor satisfaction. Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) topic modelling and lexicon-based sentiment analysis are applied based on 1749 online reviews from 143 wineries in the Peloponnese (Greece). Five dimensions emerge: (1) core wine product (quality and value), (2) winery atmospherics, (3) natural setting and viniculture, (4) service staff, and (5) winery tour and complementary products. ‘Viniculture’ and ‘winery tour’ are introduced as new attributes, not identified in prior frameworks. Sentiment analysis reveals that ‘service staff’ exerts the strongest positive impact on visitor satisfaction, followed by ‘natural setting and viniculture’ and ‘winery tour and complementary products’. The findings offer theoretical insights and practical implications for enhancing the wine tourism experience.
