Abstract: Abstract This paper analyzes the economic and social impact of cultural events on the process of regional transformation in the Center Region of Romania, with the general objective of assessing the contribution of the cultural sector to sustainable territorial development. The study uses a mixed-methodological approach, combining quantitative research, carried out through a questionnaire administered to the public attending cultural events, and qualitative research, based on semi-structured interviews with organizers from the counties of Brasov, Sibiu, Harghita, and Covasna. The results indicate a significant contribution of cultural events to local economic activation, in particular by stimulating consumption in related industries, as well as strengthening social cohesion and community identity. The qualitative analysis also reveals a number of structural challenges, such as the lack of predictable institutional support and the absence of standardized impact assessment tools. As regards cultural and creative industries, the research confirms the existence of promising initiatives but emphasizes the fragmented nature of the regional ecosystem. The paper provides an original contribution to the understanding of the relationship between culture and regional development in the Romanian context, highlighting the importance of integrated, sustainable, and locally adapted cultural policies. The results can be used as a basis for strategic interventions to strengthen the cultural sector as a pillar of territorial development.
