Abstract: Abstract In the United States, universities are increasingly adopting 3-D printers. At these institutions where this technology is being adopted, students are using 3-D printing technologies to create physical 3-D objects as a part of their learning experience. The creation of physical objects is common in some disciplines like the arts, architecture, and engineering, where design and production play a vital role. We would like to examine the phenomena of 3-D printing, and we would like to answer the following research question: how do students use 3-D printing technologies implemented at universities? To answer this research question, we employ the case study methodology with face-to-face interviews at one implementation location at one university.
