Chapter Chapter 3 in Effective Technology Transfer Offices, 2020, pp 33-54 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Business model framework strategic considerations focus on the development of a strategic plan, mission statement, and strategic priorities. TTOs focus more on action as opposed to facilitation and developing an organisational structure that is appropriate for the institutional context, as there is no one best way to structure TTO activities. The chosen organisational structure of TTOs is heavily shaped by institutional factors and their strategic focus. Strong leadership, investment in the skills and capabilities of technology transfer professionals, and configuring a sustainable resource base to support services are critical factors for TTO effectiveness. TTOs also need to consider how best to cooperate with other TTOs to potentially reduce any potential resource and expert deficiencies and leveraging economies of scale.
