Chapter Chapter 3 in Corporate Environmental Strategies and Value Creation, 2021, pp 37-54 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This chapter investigates the strategic management process of environmental dimension, identifying the critical success factors to analyze. The effectiveness of the environmental strategy implies multi-lens perspective to decision-making process in both the formulation and subsequent implementation steps. By merging the insights from literature streams, we highlight four main lenses: the drivers of environmental strategy, the levels of strategy, the activity sector, the strategic horizon of environmental actions. Starting from the previous theoretical analysis, our study provides a multi-dimensional approach for supporting the strategic management process of environmental dimension in the strategy formulation, in the subsequent implementation step and in the assessment of achieved environmental results. Finally, we advance an evaluation grid of environmental strategies to support the integration of environmental dimension in the different stages of the strategic process.
