Chapter Chapter 4 in Innovation Management in Knowledge Intensive Business Services in China, 2013, pp 43-61 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract It is intense competition, deregulation of markets, emergence of globalization, greater customer sophistication and changes in technology that have made the successful development of new services a key to success for many firms (de Brentani 1989; Stevens and Dimitriadis 2005; Storey and Kelly 2001a, b; Peaks and Riihela 2004). Service firms are becoming increasingly innovative and are playing an ever increasing role in the knowledge-driven economies of both the developed and the developing countries (Howells 2003). New service development (NSD) has emerged as an important research topic in service marketing, innovation management and operation management (Johne and Story 1998; de Brentani 1989; Menor and Roth 2007).
