The Freedom to Fire

Jay Shepherd

Chapter Chapter 2 in Firing at Will, 2011, pp 13-20 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract These days, many people have developed a funny attitude about employment. They look at employment as a right, and they look at their jobs as entitlements. But that’s not how our system works. You might have a right to work in general, but you don’t have a right to a particular job. And when you start thinking about your job as an entitlement, you tend not to care as much about doing what it takes to keep that job.
