Chapter Chapter 17 in Lessons in Project Management, 2011, pp 71-75 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Managers want to delegate responsibility and autonomy to project managers, but they know they also retain a level of responsibility if the project is in trouble or fails. This accountability applies to the sponsor as well. Projects that fail or overrun their budgets and deadlines also reflect poorly on the sponsor and, to varying degrees, on all other management stakeholders.
