Chapter 41 in The Palgrave Handbook of Learning and Teaching International Business and Management, 2019, pp 865-890 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This case analysis explores the process of structuring and delivering an MBA-level student global immersion experience in India and includes insights and educational outcomes by offering an overview of India’s contemporary economy and then focusing on start-up and technology-enabled businesses. This experience allows students to build capacity for comparative managerial perspective—a critical competence for contemporary managers. This case study examines the process of developing, delivering, and evaluating the impact of an international immersion experience to MBA students in India, and the impact was self-reported by program participants. This chapter discusses the MBA program in which the experience is embedded, explains the process of development of the in-country and pre-departure preparation, presents an overview of a variety of the experiences offered (including relevant reflections by participants), and concludes with an analysis of the success of the program in engaging program participants in this experiential learning activity using program participant reflections as evidence of their learning and achievement of program learning outcomes.
