Abstract:
Abstract Among persons with disabilities, those with psychological impairments tend to face the most severe challenges in terms of societal and vocational inclusion as high numbers of unemployment demonstrate. At the same time, the number of affected persons seems to rise, posing significant challenges for individuals and employing organizations, as well as social insurance systems. Supervisors are important, yet often overlooked stakeholders in the employment and accommodation process. We propose to invest in health-focused leadership training in order to equip supervisors with relevant knowledge on how to successfully include persons with psychological disabilities in the workforce. A case study from Switzerland demonstrates the positive effects of such training on workers’ job retention.
