Abstract:
Abstract The transportation system within supply chains plays a pivotal role in the marketing mixMarketing mix, particularly regarding its environmental impact, including CO2 emissions. Embracing sustainable transportation options is crucial for promoting eco-friendly practices. “Green distribution” today encompasses both traditional distribution methods and “reverse distribution,” involving the reuse, recycling, composting, or elimination of environmental toxins in products. Implementing a circular supply system and sustainable practices across the distribution process, from transport to reverse distribution, composting, and toxin elimination, is paramount. Challenges arise in the logistics of Fast-Moving Consumer GoodsFast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG), especially perishable food products, due to their time-sensitive nature, potential quality loss, and dynamic consumer preferencesPreferences. Over-supply in the market leads to food wastage, exacerbating global hunger concerns highlighted in the latest FAOFood and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and UNEP reports. Approximately 14% of the world’s food is lost post-harvest, while an additional 17% is wasted in retail and households, a substantial loss that exacerbates global food security challenges. Addressing food waste necessitates holistic intervention along the entire supply chain, underscoring the urgency of implementing sustainable practices.
