Abstract: Abstract The unexpected departure of a dominant social actor is identified as a crux event. In this chapter, the rumor mill reveals the Quarry manager is leaving; BAT cuts the mini-production funding; social norms break down in the void; the Quarry manager is missed. The (lack of) announcement of the manager leaving was a mess. The aftermath was a bigger mess. In the end, it was a brief distraction in the overall timeline.
