Abstract: Abstract The paper points out that with the modern space vehicles getting more and more complicated, both analytical methods and the ground modal test of actual vehicles are becoming incapable of handling the design requirement. In order to face this challenge and solve the problem, this research focuses on the virtual dynamic test techniques for space vehicles, which can be summarized as follows: 1) The virtual modal test techniques consisting of sub-structural synthesis techniques based on the experimental modelling method. In order to illustrate this novel method, two case studies were presented. The first one was the virtual modal test for CZ-2E launch vehicle. Then, the modal parameters of the large strap-on launch vehicle (LM-2E) have been predicted successfully by the proposed the virtual modal test techniques. The second example was the virtual modal test for CZ-2F launch vehicle, which resulted in reliable mathematics model and data for dynamic analysis of launch vehicle-spaceship coupling; 2) Virtual vibration test of a shaker is discussed, and key techniques for the virtual vibration test of the shaker are identified. These include modification of the FEA model, and the simulation of the table-board control of vibrating tests of a 40T shaker system as an example.
