Abstract: Summary This paper deals with various aspects of ship evacuation: Guidelines, Simulation, Validation, and Acceptance Criteria. The first section adresses general aspects of ship evacuation, like environmental influences, ship motion, the special evacuation procedure on board ships, and guidelines. The second section covers the simulation of ship evacuation. Section 3 focuses on calibration, validation, and acceptance criteria. Finally, some information resources are presented together with a summary and an outlook towards the concept of “safe return to port”.
