Design of a Process-Oriented Organizational Structure

Martin Kugeler () and Michael Vieting

Chapter 7 in Process Management, 2011, pp 187-228 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract The goal of a process-oriented organization is to facilitate an “optimized” execution of processes. This includes the best possible organization of business processes in terms of cost, time, and quality. This, however, is not limited to a pure sequence of functions. It is rather the distribution of tasks, i.e., which units execute these functions and how these units are tied into the organizational structure, that determines whether or not interfaces in the organizational structure hinder the process flow.
