Chapter Chapter 6 in Practical Handbook Business in Africa, 2023, pp 73-85 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Africa is a growing future market that offers many opportunities for German companies. In this chapter, the former State Secretary of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), Martin Jäger, presents the extensive development policy commitment of the federal government and specifically the BMZ for growth and employment in Africa to the German and European economy. The development policy-motivated cooperation of the BMZ with the economy is complementary to the foreign trade promotion of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK). In addition to cooperation projects with companies, the BMZ also promotes the improvement of the framework conditions for investments on site. The various approaches open up opportunities for companies and contain concrete cooperation offers for public-private partnerships. Investments by German and European companies in Africa can also provide a significant impetus for a sustainable recovery (“Better and Green Recovery”) of African economies from the Corona crisis.
