Abstract:
Abstract The market growth for the Family Computer and its corresponding game software peaked in 1986 before slowing down. Annual shipments of the Family Computer declined rapidly after 1987, and the percentage of million-sellers settled at around 2%. In contrast, technological advances in semiconductors and other materials led to more advanced technology in computer games. This trend began to appear in arcade games, where cost restrictions were relatively loose. Therefore, expectations for new home video game consoles and game software were gradually rising.
