Chapter Chapter 24 in The Palgrave Handbook of Strategy, Change and Transformational Project Leadership, 2026, pp 445-466 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This chapter provides a unique glimpse into the strategic human resource management landscape within Vietnam, with a focus on diversity and inclusion strategies in organizations. Exploring the challenges and opportunities inherent in a diverse workforce, the chapter discusses how Vietnam is strategically utilizing diversity and inclusion strategies to leverage its diverse talent pool. Vietnam offers a distinctive insight on strategic human resource management, and diversity and inclusion in organizations, given its increasingly ageing workforce and challenges around gender equality. This chapter explores the issues and offers practical recommendations for organisations, including for developing policies that ensure equal employment opportunities for women and older workers. It contributes to the strategic management and diversity management literature by emphasizing the importance of adopting diversity and inclusion as strategic organizational priorities to leverage the potential of a diverse talent pool and create a competitive advantage. The chapter also provides implications for research and practice on fostering an inclusive organizational culture that values and embraces diversity in Vietnam.
