Chapter Chapter 37 in Reliability Assessment of Safety and Production Systems, 2021, pp 829-838 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract So much standards related to safety and dependability are in preparation or issued that it is difficult to remain aware of all of them. Then, this chapter describes the organization of the standardization at international level, the way standards are developed and the main ones in relationship with the content of this book. Reliability engineers being usually not very interested by the subject, this chapter reminds them that standardization is the key to enable the common understanding between people (e.g. when contracting) and also that standards constitute economic weapons for those who actively participate and could create impediments for those neglecting to be involved.
