Abstract: Abstract Industrial steam boilers are prone to occurrences such as equipment failures, human errors, and common-cause failures in a context of sophisticated maintenance, inspection, and testing management. These events will have an impact on reliability of safety-related systems as well as the overall risk level. To analyze the impact of item failures on system availability, reliability block diagrams (RBD) are commonly used, taking into account their physical arrangement in the system. In this research, the RBD technique is utilised to estimate the reliability of boiler systems used in Indian textile industries. Furthermore, the boiler system reliability before and after the preventative maintenance PM task is compared.
