Chapter Chapter 5 in Importance-Informed Reliability Engineering, 2024, pp 129-150 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This chapter focuses on importance measures of networks and prioritises network maintenance and the importance measures of mono-layer networks and multi-layer networks. Regarding mono-layer networks, this chapter analyses the failures of mono-layer network components, including node failures or edge failures, and network failures. The cascading failure process, attack patterns, network failure indicators, load distribution policies, and network failure indicators of monolayer networks are also investigated. Secondly, in multi-layer networks, each layer has a specific network structure, and the number of nodes and the network structure of each layer are different.
