A chapter in Reliability Analysis and Maintenance Optimization of Complex Systems, 2025, pp 111-126 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Fault tree analysis (FTA) is a critical technique for designing highly reliable systems by identifying and analyzing potential failure modes. Although the computations involved in FTA are straightforward for systems with few components, they become increasingly complex and computationally intensive as the number of components increases. Despite the availability of several tools for FTA, there is a notable lack of open-source options. In this chapter, we present a new open-source FTA package developed using Julia, a high-performance programming language. This package aims to provide a user-friendly and efficient tool for performing FTA, serving the needs of researchers, engineers, and practitioners in the field of reliability engineering.
