Chapter Chapter 12 in Introduction to Quality and Reliability Engineering, 2015, pp 221-234 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Manufacturing phase deals with the process of producing components and product in bulk. The major challenge in this phase is to retain the designed-in performances. Two key issues are to control product quality and to improve the production process. In this chapter, we first discuss variations of quality characteristics and their effect on product quality and reliability, then analyze the reliability of production systems, and outline quality control and improvement strategies with focus on quality control by optimization. Finally, we briefly introduce principles and strategies of quality management as well as ISO quality management system.
