Abstract:
Abstract The story of every urban transportation system has been a product of the geography and demographics of its surrounding region, while the development of those transportation systems have in turn transformed the cities and communities they serve. In the 1960s, geographers recognized the marked role of land use-transportation interactions in the formation and differentiation of places and transportation networks (Haggett and Chorley, 1969; Lowe and Moryadas, 1975). Since the 1980s, integrated land use-transportation modeling has gained momentum and seen widespread application in urban planning and design.
