2014Connecticut’s Future Depends on Fairfield County

Orlando J. Rodriguez

The Connecticut Economy, 2014, issue Winter

Abstract: Connecticut GDP has declined for two consecutive years, and the state’s Legislative Office of Fiscal Analysis forecasts shortfalls in tax revenues of over $1 billion per year in fiscal years 2016, 2017 and 2018. We can no longer cross our fingers and hope that the economy will somehow improve if we just wait long enough. It is time to invest where we can best spur economic growth and create middle-class jobs for a large number of state residents.
