Abstract: Strategic management refers to many aspects of administration. It provides an insight into the possible focus of strategic thinking and action both in relation to government and in the work of public organisations. This paper examines the strategic guidelines for the management of the state administration in Bulgaria. For the purposes of the present study, combined methods of analysis and synthesis of information were used. The report applies a systematic analysis of a database of publications in specialized journals and official sites of institutions regarding strategic documents for administration management. Emphasis is placed on European experience and practices in the context of strategic guidelines for state administration management. Aspects of long-term programming of the development of Bulgaria are presented.
