Abstract: This article assesses the impact of the Canada-US Trade Agreement (CUSTA) on food processors in Canada. It examines the interaction between Canada's agricultural marketing boards and changes to domestic and border regulation resulting from CUSTA on processors in the poultry, dairy, and tomato processing industries. The results vary by the processed product but suggest that the chicken industry needs to make the biggest adjustment, while the tomato industry is best positioned to make the changes required to become competitive.
