Abstract:
AbstractThis work deals with knowledge acquisition by Local Authorities (LA) using environmental quality monitoring services provided by external laboratories/agents, in order to establish functional relations between input variables and environmental system's response. The laboratories are considered to constitute a formal Normal network or an informal Research network (N-NetLab or R-NetLab, respectively). A cognitive algorithm is designed/developed as an aid for suggesting the most proper cooperative schemes that might take place for the realization of this outsourcing procedure within both networks. Two case examples are presented to illustrate the function of certain stages of the suggested algorithmic procedure, mainly concerning the creation of a dedicated partial network, performing also knowledge path identification, for using effectively a standard practice for (i) environmental regulatory compliance audits, and (ii) general and specific environmental site assessment.
