Driving Digital Transformation

Dongwon Lee, Barney Tan and Sunil Mithas

Chapter 3 in Digital Strategies and Organizational Transformation, 2023, pp 27-49 from World Scientific Publishing Co. Pte. Ltd.

Abstract: Due to the proliferation of digital technologies in recent decades, digital transformation has emerged as an important phenomenon in both academia and industry (Tabrizi et al., 2019). However, despite much hype about digital transformation in the media and managerial articles, there is a great deal of fuzziness on what the term means, the role of technology in digital transformation, how it unfolds, and how incumbents and entrants should manage digital transformations. Our goal in this chapter is to review some of the recent work in this domain and provide our viewpoint on this topic, building on our prior and related work (Mithas, 2016).
