Türkiye Ekonomisinde Büyümenin Belirleyicileri: Büyüme Muhasebesi Yaklaşımı

Abstract: (Turkish) Bu çalışmada, Türkiye ekonomisinde büyümenin kaynakları, 1970-2006 dönemi ve bu dönemin onar yıllık alt dönemleri için incelenmektedir. Bu amaçla, büyüme muhasebesi yöntemi kullanılarak, faktör birikimi ve toplam faktor verimliliğinin (TFV) ekonomik büyümeye yaptığı katkıların ayrıştırılmasına çalışılmıştır. Sonuçlar, ele alınan dönem itibariyle Türkiye’de ekonomik büyümeyi büyük ölçüde fiziksel sermaye birikiminin belirlediğini göstermektedir. Verimlilikteki kazanımların büyümeye katkısının ise çoğunlukla zayıf ve ilgili alt dönemler itibariyle önemli ölçüde değişkenlik gösterdiği bulgulanmıştır. Ayrıca, beşeri sermayenin ekonomik büyümeye katkısının çok fazla olmamasına karşın, sermaye derinleşmesinden farklı olarak, bu katkının her bir on yıllık dönem itibariyle görece istikrarlı bir şekilde sürdüğü gözlemlenmektedir (English) This paper studies the sources of growth in the Turkish economy during the period 1970-2006 and its corresponding ten-year sub-periods. For this purpose, using the growth accounting exercise growth rate of output is decomposed between the contributions of factor accumulation and total factor productivity (TFP). Analysis of the results indicates that Turkey’s economic growth is mainly driven by physical capital accumulation over the sample period. The contribution of productivity gains to growth however, is found to be generally weak and considerably variable over the relevant sub-periods. Moreover, it is observed that although human capital’s contribution to growth is rather modest, unlike the capital deepening, it has remained relatively stable over the course of each ten years.
