Factors Affecting Food Away from Home: Are Food-Secure and Food-Insecure Households Different?

Suwen Pan, Helen Jensen and Jaime E. Malaga

Journal of Food Distribution Research, 2007, vol. 38, issue 01, 7

Abstract: Expenditures on food away from home by food-secure and food-insecure households are compared. The analysis, based on data from the Current Population Survey (CPS), finds that female labor force participation, household income, Food Stamp Program (FSP) participation, education, and other socio-demographic variables have different effects on the food expenditures made by households classified as food-secure in comparison to food-insecure households.
